We would highly recommend this walk and happily do it again. Yes we did see a platypus which I hadn’t been successful about previously on a walk along the rivulet on my own, but that was just the icing on the cake. The richness was the learning, enthusiasm, and inspiration which Pete so generously shared. Pete was approachable and incredibly knowledgeable, and just great company.Posted on Google Jackie FogartyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Attended today's Hobart Rivulet guided platypus walk. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was fun, informative and we were lucky enough to view a platypus enjoying time in the Rivulet. Pete is a wonderful guide, would highly recommend this tour. Initially it was my wife, Jenny who wanted to take part and we can both now highly recommend joining a Hobart Rivulet Guided Platypus Walk! If you love nature and in particular these wonderous, resilient little friends then just go! Pete is so compassionate about the local Platypus in the Hobart Rivulet, he radiates endless caring and kindness towards them. His knowledge is invaluable. We returned the very next day, we used all of Pete's tips to spot them and we did!Posted on Google Pam HealeyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had such an amazing time on the tour - despite the bad weather Pete made sure it was a delight. We were starstruck to meet the celebrity himself - and even more starstruck to see a little platypus almost straight away! It was an incredibly experience watching the platypus in its habitat, and asking Pete all about his experiences with them. Truly a magical experience and not to be missed for any visitor to Hobart - I had seen platypus before but this was still the absolute highlight of our trip to Tasmania!Posted on Google EllaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Without a doubt, this was the highlight of our visit to Hobart. It was a magical experience to join this small group of like-minded people led by Pete's enthusiasm and wonder. To wander the Rivulet and watch one of nature's real marvels forage and play was a true privilege indeed. Pete is so welcoming, knowledgeable, and friendly that even if we didn't get to see the platypusses -(we did)- it would have still been totally worth it for the time we had and everything we learned.Posted on Google Nadia AurischTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This guided walk was incredible! Would definitely recommend. It was one of the most unique things we did in Tassie. Great for kids also. It was incredible to see the platypuses in the wild, especially in an urban setting, I wouldn’t have even seen them if Pete wasn’t there! Really interesting to learn about how they live in an urban environment and things that people can do to reduce impacts to their survival!Posted on Google Natalie SchmittTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Pete’s love and passion for the Platys just make this whole walk of discovery such a joy! And I love that through it we are all contributing to their protection ❤️🤗

ABOUT YOUR GUIDE
Pete founded Hobart Rivulet Platypus in 2020, a community organization dedicated to the conservation of the city’s urban platypus population. His grassroots advocacy inspired the ABC/PBS docu-fiction The Platypus Guardian (2023).
Pete lives in South Hobart—just a short walk away from the Rivulet—with his partner Von and dog Loki, where he continues his work to ensure a future for the waterway’s wildlife.
