Platypus Mural Update!

The design is scheduled to be finalised in Aug-Sept with the mural to be painted by @jimmy_dvate during the longer, warmer days of Nov-Dec.

Friends of the Hobart Rivulet Platypus held its first waterway cleanup yesterday. Well over 50kg of rubbish was collected from a short section of waterway.

We’ve got some exciting platypus news, but we need your help to bring it to life!

Later this year nationally renowned contemporary artist Jimmy D-V-ate will create a 10m x 3m platypus mural in the heart of the Hobart Rivulet catchment area - in downtown South Hobart.

Aside from being a beautiful piece of art that will enrich our community, the mural will celebrate the presence of platypus in the Hobart Rivulet and serve as a prominent daily reminder of the need to care for our urban waterways.

But we need your help!

We need to raise $4500 to cover the total costs of this project.

To this end we've launched a campaign on the non-for-profit crowdfunding web site chuffed.org.

The City of Hobart is holding a National Tree Day community planting event on Sunday, August 1st. The goal is to plant 1,300 native seedlings on the day.
